GMHBA Stadium LED Installation

In 2021 Media & Tech engaged CID as their design, fabrication and installation partner as part of an extensive digital upgrade for the venue that involved over 600m of perimeter fence and parapet LED ribbon boards, plus an additional portrait LED big screen and ribbon boards at Gate 13.
CID was engaged once more in 2023/2024 as part of the major Stage 5 development of the stadium which involved reinstatement and new installations of perimeter fence and parapet ribbon boards, plus fine-pitch LED installations to the Canopy and Internal Screen areas at the new entrance.
During all stages of planning and execution of the projects, CID was heavily involved in overall project management, design specification, and final certification, working in close collaboration with Media & Tech and other stakeholders.

Ribbon Boards​
CID's design and engineering team started with a detailed inspection of the perimeter fence plus Reg Hickey and Players Stands in order to document and analyze the existing structures.

Custom bracket solutions were then designed to suit the parapets and fence. This included heavy duty egress gates and larger gates at the races. Each bracket design was modelled in 3D CAD to allow structural analysis before drafting engineering drawings for final sign-off prior to manufacturing and assembly.
Superior Finish
​
As part of the scope for our perimeter fence installation, CID was responsible for repainting all existing galvanised fence, and installing custom perforated aluminium panels between posts and across the top of the LED to give a high quality finish that is also highly durable.

Gate 13
​
Gate 13 comprised of several different sections of LED, each with their own challenges. Extensive site inspection and review of construction drawings was undertaken before modelling new signage structures suitable for engineering review and certification.
CID provided detailed construction drawings to its installation teams to ensure design specifications were followed and the level of finish was to the highest standard.
Canopy

The new Canopy at the refurbished entrance as part of the Stage 5 development is a high-traffic area that was an ideal location for LED signage.

CID needed to retrofit the LED support structure to existing columns and header beams with a high level of accuracy, which was achieved with clever design and a highly skilled installation team.
Internal Screen
​
At an impressive 16m long x 1.5m high of fine-pitch LED, the Internal Screen is arguably the highlight of the digital upgrade in the Stage 5 Development.
As always, meticulous planning, design, and documentation was the starting point, then our highly skilled installation team executed a challenging installation onto a curved bulkhead.
